The Golden Eagles have a lot of prove in this upcoming game against Kansas University on Friday September 17. After a devastating and ego breaking lost to South Carolina and an easy win against Prairie View, USM has to regain back fans confidence in them that slowly that surely has been waiving for the past 3 seasons. Spectators are already claiming the win for the Jayhawks because of USM’s uncanny way to lose their ground and their head when they are playing inside and outside of their conference. Kansas University lost their first game to North Dakota State. YES, you did just read NORTH DAKOTA STATE, whose next opponent is Morgan State. Wow! This shockingly embarrassing loss was a blow to the JawHawks ego, along with their hearts if they watched Sports Center that night. They redeemed themselves in a surprising win against Georgia Tech. Spectators said that the Yellow Jackets would rip those dirty jawhawks to shreds. HA. Those who betted against them are probaly crying somewhere in a corner wiping their tears away with their yellow sleeves. KU are currently ranked number 1 in the Big 12 north. Intimidating much ? USM is ranked number 2 in conference USA, but its only conference USA, you get no hope, glory, or fame from that minor achievement.
They are almost identical when it comes to passing yards, KU has 179 while USM trails closely behind at 178 but the problem arises when you look at the dramatically and game winning difference between their rushing yards. KU has 101 while USM has a measly 32. USM has great defense potential, the problem is the Golden Eagles seem to always go through a mid life crisis halfway through the game if they are losing. Instead of going in the locker room during halftime and eating a bowl of wheaties instead they sulk and moan through the rest of the game and lose. Quarterbacks can make or break a team, and Austin Davis does most of the breaking. He isn’t consistent and gets hurt right around game 3 or game 4. Young is then put into the game. If you look at statistics you would come to the conclusion that the Jayhawks should crush the Golden Eagles, but I do not believe so. USM has an amazing defensive program this year, one of the best in years. USM just need to be more focused, confident, and more gritty if they hope to beat KU. I have faith in the Golden Eagles and hopes that the underdogs … or underBIRDS win.
