Week 2 brings the Dallas Cowboys home opener against the 1-0 Chicago Bears.
The Cowboys will have to first to look at playing a more disciplined football game if they have any thoughts of winning. They ‘cannot’ and I repeat ‘cannot’ play with the lack of discipline and penalties like they did in week-1 which resulted in the loss to the Washington Redskins. A repeat performance could mean another loss.
With that all being said, this is Dallas’ home opener. Nobody wants to start the NFL season 0-2, especially the Cowboys after all the pre-season hype they have garnered. The Cowboys will be up against a tough Bear defence but the Cowboys will have to start with the running game, see how Jones, Choice and Barber can operate the clock and get some much needed yards on the ground. When Romo has to throw the ball which he did fine in the week-1 loss, he will have to spread his passing game around to the likes of his new best target Austin and Williams, Bryant and the best tight end in the game right now Jason Witten. At least with having all these weapons in the air it should spread the Bears front seven a little which we can only hope helps the Dallas running game.
The Cowboys defense played well last week and will look to build off the Skins game and hope the offense puts some points on the board.
I like the Cowboys this week although I am not sure where such a big point spread came from, regardless I like the Cowboys to win straight up. I like both teams leaving Dallas 1-1 Sunday.
As always comments and questions are welcomed.
Sidenots - RT Marc Colombo is expected to dress for Sunday’s game. It was the Bears who drafted Colombo in 2002. LB DeMarcus Ware who suffered a ‘mild’ head injury in week-1 is hoping/expected to play Sunday.
