Week Two Vs. Jaguars

The Chargers will be going into their week two match-up against the Jaguars 0-1.  Something the Chargers and their fans did not see coming.  There is no such thing as a must win in September, so I will just say this is a big game.  It will not be good for the bolts to start of 0-2 against the Chiefs and Jaguars.  Especially with the Jaguars game being at home, which is a totally different story for our boys.  There are a couple reasons why  an 0-2 start would be particuly bad this year.  One reason is I think it is important for the team to get confident early and gel together with so many young and inexperienced players stepping up into larger roles this year.  Another reason I think it is important to win some games early is for the me and the other fans.  I love going to as many Chargers games as I can but they are expensive so I enjoy watching the game on the old 46″ HD screen.  So if the Chargers struggle early it might effect the blackout situation if people are not buying tickets to watch a team that is 1-2 and or 0-3 by week four.  On that note one of my favorite things in the world is tailgating and spending the whole afternoon at Qualcomm stadium.  There is nothing like being in good seats at an NFL game.  I used to love watching the games on T.V. every week and was happy with it.  Until the Erb family started letting me tag along with one of their season tickets.  Yelling at the players and other fans with the intensity surrounding me gets me all fired up.  Some would argue T.V. is better, but it is not even close.

The Jaguars beat the Broncos last week and are 1-0.  Thank you Jags for doing that, now you will come into San Diego and get crushed.  The Jags play similar to the Chiefs style.  They will run first with MJD and hope that Garrard is efficient with short first down throws and little mistakes.  Garrard did this quite well last week against the Broncos.  The Jags defense is not as fast as the Chiefs with some older players and won’t make very many game changing plays.  I like Rivers and the passing game at home with not much pressure on Rivers if we can block Aaron Campan. I hope the limited amount of fans at the “Q” on Sunday can still get loud and disrupt the Jags on offense.

David Binn has been ruled out for the season after being injured last week.  The experts have been talking all off season long about the departures of  L.T., Cromartie, and Vincent Jackson.  What really scares me is not having Marcus McNeil, Kassim Osgood, David Binn, and Jamal Williams on Sundays the rest of the season.  The foundation of our special teams that has been so good over the recent years(besides a few big kicks) is gone.  People don’t talk about it much but the Chargers special teams has been amazing with Scifres punting balls downed at the two yard line with Osgood getting to them and Kaeding being the most accurate REGULAR season kicker.  David Binn is just a long snapper, but he is a damn good one.

Weekly prediction- Chargers  31   Jaguars  20

Season prediction- Chargers  10-6
