Ducks blank another opponent

Oregon’s high powered offense had another big day at Autzen Stadium putting up 69 Points against the Vikings of Portland State. The Ducks knew going into this game that it wasn’t going to be much of a challenge but they did know they still had to stay focused, and that’s exactly what they did.
Lamichael James had a career day rushing for 227 yards on only 14 carries and 2 Touchdowns. James’s first TD came on Oregon’s first possession which was untouched for 66 yards. The Ducks totaled for an amazing 528 total rushing yards for the game. The Vikings never were able to put together a scoring drive. Oregon’s defense was again in prime form, only giving up a total of 140 yards. Portland State actually did lead in time possession having the ball for 33:50 to Oregon’s 26:10. The closest the Vikings came to scoring was a missed 52 Yard Field Goal from Zach Brown.
Darron Thomas played another great game as the starting QB, he didn’t have to throw the ball to many time but went 9 for 18 for 140 yards, 4 Touchdowns and threw 1 pick. Thomas is really coming along and is going to be key to the Ducks success in the Pac 10 this year. Although he is only a sophomore he looks like a veteran when he is out on the field.
Another Duck who had a big game was WR Jeff Maehl who had who caught only 3 passes for 82 yards but 2 of the 3 catches were good for Touchdowns including a 47 yarder on Oregon’s second drive of the game.
The Ducks are now looking forward to defending their Pac 10 crown which their first league games comes next Saturday against Arizona State at Sun Devil Stadium. The Sun Devils are coming off a heartbreaking loss against a very tough #11 Wisconsin Badgers team, ASU lost 20-19.
