Iowa State Cyclones did not fair well again this week despite their very valiant effort against the Kansas State Wildcats. The Cyclones came up just a bit short of a late game comeback victory.
Kansas State’s game plan was pretty much wear down the Iowa State defense by giving the ball to their running back Daniel Thomas, Thomas rushed for a total of 181 yards and two touchdowns in just 34 carries. The Wildcat quarter back Carson Coffman had 104 yards of passing, and with their mojo working on offense, Kansas State remained undefeated, and to go 3-0 in this young season.
Iowa State on the other hand overall had a pretty good game, the offense improved from last week. Austin Arnaud threw for 122 yards and a touchdown but his late game heroics went down the drain as he was marching his team to the Kansas State’s 36 yard line with 19 seconds left for a last minute touchdown to send the game in O.T., but he couldn’t find his receivers.
This years game didn’t have the thrilling ending like last years Iowa State and Kansas State game, but the clones did give their fair shake and in my opinion despite the penalties gave the Wildcats a run for their money. The road has been too kind to the Cyclones thus far but the season is just getting started. Hopefully Iowa State will get back to .500 nest weekend with a win against the UNI Panthers, the one thing they will have going for them next week is that they are at home.
