It was ugly but its a win

Well that was an ugly performance, from both teams.
Before I touch on the offense, I have to touch on the defense.
The Longhorn defense just held a 400-plus yard Red Raider offense in check. Potts was a good 21 for 35, but for only 158 yards and 1 touchdown. Shutting down Tech’s run game was a positive for the Longhorns, mainly because they held Tech to negative 14 yards. Gideon finally gets redeemed, holding on to a sure interception. Jeffcoat and Johnson, along with the rest of the defensive line put a lot of pressure on Potts, especially in the second half. Even when Sheffield came in, they sacked him with ease. The UT defense probably deserves all the credit for the win; it was their best performance of the year, thus far.
To start the game, the offense looked really good. Seeing Gilbert come out throwing was awesome. Gilbert looked sharp and accurate. Whittaker was running well with an early touchdown followed by a touchdown pass by Gilbert. Granted, Whittaker was setup by a mishandled snap by Potts but I’m sure he’ll take it. Then Gilbert led a 79 yard drive finishing with a TD pass to his new best friend Mike Davis. After all that, it turned UGLY.
UT’s next drive was capped off by a tipped pass intercepted by Scott Smith, who had himself a great game. Gideon got his pick on Tech’s next possesion. Then Gilbert threw another pick that was returned for touchdown.
Heck of a first quarter, huh?
The rest of the game was just ugly. UT did what they could to give the game toTexas Tech. Then Tech did what they could to give Texas the game. It was bad. Thanks to a great defensive effort, Texas pulled off a big win. Hopefully, Texas will improve on offense for UCLA, who upset number 23 Houston.
