Time to panic in Dallas?

From what I am reading and hearing, it might be time for this year’s version of the Dallas Cowboys to start pushing the panic button.  Let’s hope not, but how can one argue with that?  It’s time to look in the mirror, blame everyone and start the season 0-2 with 14 games left and focus on that.  This team can’t be doing the same thing after Week 3 , 4 and so forth…   The time is now for the Dallas Cowboys to either step up and be a contender or continue to be a pretender.  Cowboys’ fans are about to lose their minds right now!

With so many expectations, the Bears did what the Cowboys wanted to do in Week 2: get balance on offense and rely on your defense to create turnovers.  Instead it was the Bears who created key turnovers at important times.  The final score might make you think that 27-20 is not that bad, but when you lose on home turf after a terrible opener, one has to wonder about the psyche of the team.

The Cowboys again did enough to beat Da Bears but it was Da Bears who came out victorious.  Dallas won in almost every offensive category except the key one, rushing the ball.  How you run the ball 20 times for 36 yards has to fall on the OC Jason Garrett.

Questions: are the Boys playing with emotion / heart or grit?  Seriously, so far the Cowboys look like it doesn’t matter how well we play but that they will get the win anyway from their talent alone.  Take a quick look at the standings and the Cowboys are in the cellar.  Romo, get that smile off of your face and hit a receiver once in a while!  You threw right behind Choice which could have been a key 1st down yesterday.  Endless mistakes on Romo’s part.  Take leadership now!

I don’t like pointing the finger at certain players but the QB needs to be better for success.   The other finger is going towards the sidelines and the brutal play calling I have seen so far from the Coaching staff.  The players and the Coaching staff have to be on the same-page for this relationship to work.  Yes folks, it is a relationship and you Dallas haters can tee me up on the relationship word if you like, but you play with the same swagger and confidence as your coaching staff.

This week is going to tell everyone what the Cowboys are made of.  Dallas is in a must-win situation this coming Sunday, who would have thought that two weeks ago?   But things do not get any easier as the Cowboys visit their state neighbours in the Houston Texans, the 2-0 Houston Texans who have defeated the Colts and Redskins.  Not to mention the ass whooping Dallas took in the pre-season at Houston.

As always…..comments and questions because clearly we have concerns.

I’m curious, Glenn, because Marion Barber has been a non-factor. Are they trying to squeeze him out? What’s going on?

Good comment Steph but I think Barber is here to stay and I more blame it on as noted in my blog on the Coaching staff and play calling. The Cowboys have one of the best running games in the NFL but certainly not utilizing the running game. thanks for the comment…..

Good blog Stantsy, I agree with your Romo comments as a Giants fan it always irked me to see him smiling, looking like he didn’t care after a key turnover and I always wondered if it bothered Cowboys fans. I think all good teams start with strong leadership at the top and the chemistry or relationship is what gets them to the SB. Tough game this week, I think Houston is for real. Good luck.

Thanks Dennis-outside of writing it in the blog I just right now don’t get the sense of intensity/emotion/heart from the Cowboys/Romo so far this year to as you put it ‘chemistry’. Pre-game blog coming up shortly, hope you come back for a read…..

Any thought of taking on the headache that is Vincent Jackson? From all accounts, it appears the Chargers want too much for him, but (and this is very theoretical), if they told you that Roy Williams plus a first round pick would get it done, would you do it?

Jackson is certainly of the last two seasons anyway a bona-fide WR in the NFL but I guess the question remains at what price. I would jump at Roy Williams + for a chance to land Jackson. Does not seem like Jackson is going to suit up in a Chargers uniform so something has to give if he wants to play catch this season with an NFL QB, interesting, I like your thinking Dan….

Problem is now that the deadline has passed, Jackson is on the shelf for at least 6 weeks… I don’t know how this will play out, but realistically, Dallas should have at least contacted the Chargers about him while there was still hope of him playing by week 5. Now it’s too late. Williams + would have gotten it done in my books, but that don’t mean squat where real money is being spent and you’re inheriting a malcontent…lol

I did see that Jackson as of yesterday was not available to play until X week (don’t fully understand the NFL rule regarding this). You are right Dallas should of contacted San Diego, shown some interest forsure. easy to say for us but we both know Dallas out of any team has the money and would of also dumped Williams salary and Dallas is used to the likes of Jackson…..by the time Jackson goes anywhere if he at all goes anywhere, it very well maybe too late for whatever team he may end up with especially if that team is the Cowboys….yikes, did I just say that…..

Yeah, that rule is sketchy at best. I was hoping for a quick resolution, which would have seen Jackson eligible for week 5 play (had him in fantasy pool). However, it appears that it’s a non-starter at this point. Dallas really should have explored that option and offered up market value. Too bad, but I think it is too late.

Only thing now is to get rid of Romo, which doesn’t seem likely. He’s just so full of himself and loves the “spotlight” too much off the field to be effective on it. He seems like he’s in a different universe when he’s playing. Too bad, because he has a world of talent to ride, which will bring him the attention he seems to crave.

My thinking is that Jessica Simpleton has seasons’ tickets now, and that’s messing up Dallas karma!

putting the rule aside as we know that does not look like it can happen I do agree with you as to Romo and even as to todays paper the Toronto Sun, there seems to be some trouble in Cowboy land as to team only meeting and Gerald Sensabaugh saying the Cowboys are having “brain farts” etc…..will be an interesting Sunday in Dallas land…..pre-game blog to come soon…..
