Jenkins and Witten cleared to play

Both Mike Jenkins and Jason Witten have been cleared to play in Houston this Sunday. This is good news because their availability to play this week against a high powered Houston offensive will be paramount if Dallas is going to have a chance to keep from going 0-3.
Houston boasts a receiving core of ,arguably the best wide receiver today, Andre Johnson, a reemerged Kevin Walter, who had 11 receptions and 144 yards against Washington, Jacobey Jones, another young and fast emerging receiver, and tight end Owen Daniels. All topped off by pro bowl quarterback Matt Schaub and rusher Arian Foster.
So having Mike Jenkins is a must. If not the Cowboys will have to shuffle around a few players to compensate for the lose of Jenkins due to a lack of depth at the corner position, by possibly bringing Allan Ball to the corner spot from the free safety or pulling someone from the practice squad, untested rookies, or off the street. Ball is a converted corner, but his change would cause the Cowboys to have to pull in some less experienced players from their depth chart.
If the Cowboys have Allan Ball play the corner position that will leave the team with three rookies Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Barry Church, or even Danny McCrary or second year veteran Mike Hamlin to fill in oppostie of Gerald Sensabaugh. Whoever the chose, they will not get a lot of practice nor will they have had that in game experience needed against a tough offense in a season game that counts. No matter the situation, if it excludes the play of Michael Jenkins then Houston will seek to exploit either the rookies brought in, an untested back up, and or the shuffled around secondary of Dallas. And they could prove to be very successful in doing so.
Having Jason Witten back will also be important for not only the pass game, but in the blocking he brings. Witten has long been over looked for his passing and Martelus Bennett has had trouble with that part of his game. If Witten were to not play it is another area that Houston and “Super” Mario Williams will attack with lots of blitzing. Witten’s support on the line will be missed if he’s out. So that’s good news that both are cleared to play during a troubled time for Cowboys fans and coming up on what could be a season killer game.
Cowboys fans keep your fingers crossed that Jenkins and Witten can go and don’t experience any set backs, not just for the Houston game, but in the long run. Without them it will be a long game in Houston, but could be even longer if they miss a number of games over the season.
