Ducks look to bring their own heat to Tempe

The Ducks are finally ready for the Pac-10 Season to begin. Oregon is coming off another big win after punishing Portland State 69-0 last Saturday at Autzen Stadium. Although the Vikings weren’t exactly a worthy opponent, they were only on the schedule due to a change by Central Michigan. The Ducks are coming into Saturdays game in Tempe averaging an outstanding 63 Points a game and over 611 yards a game. They rank 1st in the nation in both of those categories.
Oregon finally looks to start their defense of their Pac-10 Championship, first in line are the Sun Devils. Arizona State is coming off a heart breaking loss against #11 Wisconsin where they had a last minute field goal block to lose 20-19. In last years meeting against the two teams Oregon won 44-21 in Eugene. The last time in Tempe, Oregon also won big 54-2o.
Arizona State is definitely looking to bounce back from the last couple of defeats at the hands of the Ducks. The Sun Devils are lead by QB Steven Threet who is a transfer from the University of Michigan. Threet has been throwing the ball great so far to start the season with 841 yards and 5 Touchdowns. ASU also has another offense threat in sophomore RB Cameron Marshall who has rushed for only 167 yards in 3 games but has 5 Touchdowns.
Darron Thomas is going to be a big key for the Ducks in their 2nd road game. He has looked flawless so far this young season. But he has also not played all that much either. In 2 of the 3 games he has only played until halftime, then Nate Costa took over in both games. Thomas is young but hasn’t showed signs of that yet throwing for 562 yards and 8 Touchdowns already. The Ducks are also lead by Sophomore Running Back LaMichael James who tried to make up for missing the first game of the season last week against Portland State, where he rushed for 227 yards and 2 Td’s all in the first half. James is averaging 12 yards a carry already this season! That’s over a first down per carry.
Oregon with their high powered offense still has to worry about 3 guys from Arizona State, Numbers 6,7,8. Normally for 3 linebackers you would see numbers like 55, 56, or 57, the Sun Devils are different. Led by #6 Sherry Lions, #7 Vontaze Burfict and #8 Brandon Magee their defense is going to be focused and read to try and stop this high powered offensive machine. For Thomas, looking into the defense and seeing 3 single digit numbers might be a distraction, but as a duck fan lets hope not.
Since i always like to throw predictions out their in my blog here is mine for this game. Oregon wins, and very convincingly I believe 56-17.
I would love to see some other scoring predictions or thoughts about this game!
