1941 is the last time Temple has beaten Penn State. Over recent years, Penn State has taken the Owls behind the woodshed and whipped them pretty good. Penn State holds a 34-3-1 all-time series advantage over the Cherry and White.
This year feels different. The Owls got their signature win last week over Uconn. I’m by no means predicting a win, but I think Temple can hang in it until the last couple of possessions. Let me say this, it won’t be 62-3.
The key to the game will be Penn State’s rushing attack. Temple struggled stopping the run last week. Uconn’s Jordan Todman rushed 26 times for 192 yards. I did notice that Uconn predominantly ran the ball on the left side of their offensive line, away from Temple’s Adrian Robinson and Jaiquawn Jarrett, Temple’s best defenders.
Penn State likes to run on the right side of their offensive line behind Stefen Wisniewski. The Nittany Lions use a two running back attack in Evan Royster and Stephon Green. So far, Royster has carried 31 times for 110 yards while Greene has rushed 22 times for 104 yards.
Bernard Pierce finally got some carries last week and showed why he’s the best running back in the MAC. He’ll see a lot of carries again as Temple will try to drain the clock and limit the possessions.
It won’t be easy for Temple to put points on the board as Penn State’s defense is ranked 9th nationally in points allowed (12.7)
PREDICTION- PSU- 23-17
I will be at Penn State for the game tomorrow. I don’t think Penn State fans realize how good this Temple squad is this year. These Stateaholics think that Penn State is just going to roll over the Owls. Like Lee Corse says “Not so fast my friend.” All I’m hoping for out of my Owls is a close game. I want these Nittany Lions fans to sweat it out.

I currently work for the Sports Network. It's the best job ever! I am a 2010 graduate of Temple University where I majored in broadcast journalism, I LOVE SPORTS! That's why I am here. I have a vast knowledge and want to share my athletic intelligence with the world. Some people like to spend their time shooting down aliens in Halo; I like to spend my time watching sports, current and old. It's my passion! I got asked one time how I can watch a game over again when I already know the outcome. 5 minutes later, he's watching Happy Gilmore reciting all of the lines from the movie. Hypocrite! As for my favorite sports teams, I've been a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan. My favorite athlete is Allen Iverson. He didn't like practice that much, but when it came to gametime, no one let it all out on the floor like Iverson. He is absolutely beloved in the city of Brotherly Love. For college athletics, obviously I pay close attention to Temple. (Yes, football too) Even before I stepped foot on Temple's campus for the 1st time in 2005, I was a fan. Oh the good old days of John Chaney! Some other tidbits about myself, I love cheesesteaks, I hydrate myself with Welch's Grape Juice and Snapple. I love the HBO show Entourage. Also, when is Kenny Powers making his much anticipated return in Eastbound and Down!
