Tennessee Titans at New York Giants Preview

Week 3, and already both the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants are on the chopping block. A part of two of the most competitive divisions in the league, neither team can afford to drop another game before the interdivisional meetings get under way. Both teams are coming into New Meadowlands Stadium 1-1 with a lot to prove.
Tennessee’s offense needs to find their rhythm, the rhythm that led them to a 38-13 victory over the Raiders in week one. It was not until the final minute of the fourth quarter that the offense found the endzone against the Steelers. Sure the Steeler’s number six ranked defense is to blame, but 7 turnovers in never okay. And the biggest question mark on the Titan’s 22nd ranked offense, is that of quarterback. Earlier this week Fisher announced Vince Young as his starting quarterback, but Young really needs a strong performance to quiet the nay-sayers. For fantasy football players, Chris Johnson is probably making you lose a lot of sleep. Thirty-four yards and touchdownless certainly will not cut it for a successful fantasy team, nor the Titans. The Titans have to establish the run early and often against the Giants 24th ranked run defense.
For the Giants, one of, if not their biggest weakness has got to be there offensive line. Eli Manning was hit 6 times, sacked four times, and the Colts defense forced two fumbles on the younger Manning that led directly to 14 points. Manning did not have time to catch his breath before being claubered by a myriad of Indianapolis defenders. What is bad news for the Giants is Tennessee’s number one ranked defense will certainly not let up any. We’re talking about a defense that found the quarterback 4 times last week, evening injuring Dixon for up to six weeks. In short, Eli: look out.
The Giants have a plethora of dangerous receivers, so look for a busy outing for Tennessee’s secondary. Manningham is a electric deep threat. Manning loves Nicks around the endzone. And Steve Smith’s elusive cuts will certainly keep Finnegan, Hope, and the gang on their toes.
The Titans are 4-0 against the Giants since they moved to Tennessee, and this year they will be greeted by a familiar face. Linebacker Keith Bullock joined New York in the off season, and the Titans are all too familiar with how quickly the veteran Bullock can take over a game.
Brandon Jacobs enters the game following a costly (literally) week. Jacobs was fined $10,000 after he threw his helmet into the crowd during Sunday night’s game. Jacobs has struggled this season to find his role, having only tallied 52 yards on 16 carries. And look for Ahmad Bradshaw to strengthen his grip as the go-to back.
