How do I start my blog for the 0-2 Dallas Cowboys when there was so much optimism for this years Cowboy squad? Could they be looking square in the face at an 0-3 start?
Well, this Sunday has the Cowboys heading to Houston to play the 2-0 Texans. I truly think that Dallas will walk out of Houston being the best team in the state Texas. I have said it before and I guess I will say it again, the Cowboys have to get back to basics which sounds pretty simple. Eliminate the undiscplined penalties and find an identity. They must establish the run game and control the almighty time of possession. How many times do I have to emphasize the ground game when you have three potential starting running backs on one team? Dallas needs to win the battle in the trenches. The OL needs to be much better for this to happen, but I would take just a little consistency on the OL and some better playing calling that would for once establish the running game.
The Texans are playing with a ton of confidence and why not after character wins against the Colts and Redskins. The Cowboys defence has to swarm, gang tackle, get dirty, and hit everyone who gets in their way in order to come out victorious on Sunday. Yes, play smash mouth football and knock someone on their ass! What a concept!
The Cowboys have only produced 2 TD’s, 2 sacks, forced no turnovers and again the kicking game is failing them. This team needs to win 2 out of the 3 phases of this game. It would be nice to see the special teams come up big and for the offense to put some points on the board.
Both CB Mike Jenkins along with TE Jason Witten are expected to play, both of whom had a few minor injury problems from last weeks game.
Comments, questions……fire away! Go Cowboys!
