Cincinnati v.s. Carolina Week 3 Preview

For the 3rd straight game, Cincinnati faces a “so-so” secondary.  Against New England and Baltimore, Cincinnati has yet to establish a rhythm passing the football.  Carson Palmer needs to just hit his open receivers instead of trying to please Owens and Ochocinco so much.  I got into that last week.  Jordan Shipley and Jermaine Gresham are getting open, but not getting the ball.

Jimmy Clausen will make his first career start tomorrow.  Matt Moore has been nothing short of horrendous thus far.  When Carolina has gotten down early in the game, they’ve struggled.  They don’t have the quarterback play to get back into games.  As for the receivers, Steve Smith is their only legitimate threat.  We know how good the tandem of Hall and Joseph are.  That just makes matters worse for a passing game that is, in my opinion, the worst in the NFL.

I believe a huge key to this game is who gets the lead early on.  Obviously, if Carolina gets behind, they’re going to struggle.  They have, arguably, one of the greatest running back duos in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.  Carolina has yet to really play with a lead.  That’s when they excel.  The Giants dictated the tempo with Eli Manning in week one, and Tampa Bay got off to a fantastic start last week against the Panthers.

Prediction- 16-6 Cin

This may be the worst matchup of the weekend.  There won’t be much scoring, and I really don’t see any of these teams establishing a rhythm offensively.
