Dallas wins, they really did!

I ain’t going to say it was pretty but the now 1-2 Dallas Cowboys went into the battle of Texas and came out victorious 27-13 against a tough, home favourite Houston Texans team, before a record crowd at Reliant stadium.
The win should hush some of the rumors surrounding Dallas head coach Wade Phillips.  One win doesn’t make a season as this team should be much better record wise than they are now.  There is still a lot of homework to do in Cowboy Nation, we will take the win, head into the bye week and prepare for week-5, where the Cowboys will host the Tennessee Titans.
When looking at this afternoon’s game, the Cowboys forced their 1st set of turnovers of the season, three in total.  The defense put pressure on the Texans all day long, led by three sacks for DeMarcus Ware.  The defense also held all-pro WR Andre Johnson to just 64 yards, a feat that isn’t easy for any team.  Keeping him in check usually translates into a win.
The Cowboys showed some grit today, they knew it was a must win and it showed when your leaders are scratching and clawing for extra yards whenever they had the ball.  Miles Austin and Roy Williams earned every yard they gained today, blowing by defenders and doing whatever it took to help their team.
The football God’s were on the side of the Cowboys today.  When you kick a FG when the playclock clearly hit zero but still counts, usually that is a sign of good things to come.
The Cowboys ran the ball a little more but 27 times still isn’t enough, mind you they finally one the time of possession battle which was certainly key today in leading to victory.   Leading to the victory today certainly was Dallas going perfect in the redzone scoring TD’s on both trips to the red zone, while hitting 2 out of 2 FG’s.
The dream is still alive and I will not bloat about the win, it is a win and a start in the right direction for a team that clearly didn’t want to or expect to start the season 0-2.
As always, comments and questions.  See ya soon!
