COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was over early!

Eastern Michigan University football coach Ron English felt the game against the No.2 Ohio State University slip out of reach in the first quarter. The Buckeyes flex their mighty offense and defeated the Eagles 73-20 in front of 105.017 satisfied Buckeye football fans.

“The game slipped away pretty early in the first quarter,” English said after the game. “This is one of the better Ohio State teams I have coached against and our goal was to acomplish other things than win the game.”

” We want to get better and what we try to do is keep the kids focused on playing in the game. and focuse in getting better,” English said. “ There are so mant things that we need to get better at we did not want to get down and then stop getting better so we continued to keep coaching through out the game and contiue to get them to play through out the game we want to get better because we still have eight games left.”

The Eagle defense at times played with some crispness and flowed to the ball with some determenation but the raw talent of Ohio State University quarterback Terrelle Pryor was too much and at times he looked like he was just a giant among boys.

Pryor tied his career high with his four touchdown passes, the most since his first career start in 2008 against Troy State University.

Pryor darted in and out of the Eagle defense for 224 yards passing and 104 yards rushing, his second outing of the season and his fourth caeer game with at least 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing. He now has four of the five 200-100 games in school history.

English defense game plan was to work at getting better and play with together and not quit.

” That was one of the goals today and what I am learning is something that I had not to deal with in along time it is kind’ve like baseball if you are not strong up the middle it is hard to be strong,” English said about his defense effort. ” Right now we are not strong up the middle but we have kids that are willing to work at it, they worked all week abd they work hard in practice. Our job is to get them in the right place snd that is what we focused on and get them inthe right place and it is there job to make the plays, it is there job.

The Eagles defense allowed 645 yards of total offense and 73 points that is the most points that in Ohio States University football coach Jim Tressel era, the most since Sept 21, 1996 against the University of Pittsburgh when the Buckeyes only scored 72 points.

The Eagles offense did have some rays of sunshine and did have some success but English still stuck with platoon system with the quarterbacks.

Starting the game for the Eagles Alex Gillett and the first three offensive series were not something that English would not brag about it was a quick three and out and giving the Buckeyes some excellent field position.

Gillett finshed the game by completeing 13 passes for 200 yards including two touchdown.

“He is getting better and he is doing some good things he can stay alive in the pocket and he has shown in the first four games to be able to stay alive,” English said about his starting quarterback. ” He found some guys down field and complete some passes that way - I was pleased with him today.”

“I was pretty happy with how I played, I thought our offense did some things well. We made some mistakes but we are improving,” Gillett said standing out side of the locker room. “I credit our offensive line, they did all they could against Ohio State defense. When we scored we were in rhythm.”

English will continue to teach and coach this week and get the Eagles focused on this week’s game against Ohio University at Rynearson Stadium. The game is scheduled to kickoff at noon.
