Not so special, special teams

If the Chargers could get a snap off in time, or not let up a touchdown on special teams they could probably be 16-0 this year.  The Chargers showed again this week their superior athletic ability over their opponent but were unable to turn it into a victory.  Philip Rivers and thepassing game can convert fifteen yard pass and catches at will.  Rivers threw for a franchise high 455 yards in the 27-20 loss to the Seahawks.  How do you throw for 455 yards and loose?  Three fumbles and 11 penalties for 83 yards that’s how.  The Chargers are clearly a totally different team at home then on the road.  The Seahawks and Jaguars are very similar teams.  It is all about the little things for the Chargers, not being on the same page is causing the team way too many costly penalties.  The line suffered an injury with Vasquez early and looked unstable the rest of the game.  It will be nice to have McNeil back at left tackle after seeing Dombroski get burned by Chris Clemons multiple times for a big sack.  The Chargers had 518 total yards to the Seahawks 271, and the Chargers time of possession was 36 minutes to the Seahwaks 24 minutes.  The reason those stats don’t add upto a victory is,the penalties and costly turnovers when the Chargers were marching down the field.  I’m going to put it out there, I love Philip Rivers, he is a winner and an awesome quarter back.  Rivers completed 29 passes to 9 different receivers and 455 yards.  He did everything he could to help the bolts win this game, but it was not enough.

The Chargers did not loose this game because of A.J. Smith and the absence of Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeil.  I will be writing a special mid week blog sharing why I believe this and why everyone else should as well.  I hope that it will be read and enjoyed by all the San Diego faithful.
