Just the third game of the season and the Vikings face a “must win” type of game against the Detroit Lions. It is not pretty, but definitely true. If the Vikes want to control their own destiny, they have to win this game. Against the Lions this would seem like a given, but don’t count the win so quickly. Both teams are 0-2, however, the Lions have actually scored more points and looked better losing; if you can say that.
Minnesota has to do one thing. Protect the quarterback. The Vikings will be able to run the ball with Adrian Peterson, but when they encounter obvious passing situations they must be able to protect Brett Favre. If they are unable to do this it is possible for the Lions to beat the Vikings. This is one of those games that is very simple; win and be 1-0 in the division, or lose, be 0-3 overall and lose control of your own destiny. Welcome to reality Minnesota.
