Ravens squeeze out the victory against the Browns on Sunday afternoon, 24-17. Anquan Boldin showed everyone why he was traded for.
Boldin finished the game with eight catches for 142 yards and three touchdowns. He scored all of the Ravens touchdowns including a 27 yard catch to give them the lead midway through the fourth quarter.
Ray Rice left the game in the fourth quarter with a sprained knee. He doesn’t have any ligament damage according to head coach John Harbaugh. Rice was looking to get on track after struggling for the first two games. He left the game averaging 5.3 yards per carry -> 15 carries for 80 yards.
Joe Flacco had his best game of the season. He went 22 of 31 with 262 yards passing and three touchdowns. The more pressing quality of this game is that Flacco finished the game without a turnover.
The Ravens’ defense was un-Raven like on Sunday. The Ravens knew going into the game that starting quarterback Jake Delhomme wasn’t going to be able to play due to his ankle injury. They had to accomplish three phases in the game to win. One, not turn the ball over. Two, stop Cribbs on special teams. Three, stop the run. They did everything but stop the run. They gave up 144 yards rushing and a touchdown to Peyton Hillis.
The Ravens are 2-1 and travel to Pittsburgh to play the 3-0 Steelers next week. This will be their third divisional game in four weeks. If Rice is not able to go, look for Willis McGahee to handle the workload.
