Notre Dame Football: Wednesday Links

Posted By Jordan Lauterbach On Sep 29 2010 @ 3:48 pm In Notre Dame | No Comments

If you’ve ever read my bio below all my columns, you know that I host two radio shows a week. I’ve been doing talk shows since I was 15 years old. However, I’ve never been on TV. That was… until yesterday.

Thanks so much to Deniz Kofteci and the good people at speakingchannel.tv for inviting prosportsblogging.com to be on the sports blogging discussion panel. Being  just a hop, skip, and a jump (or a 55 minute train ride) from the studios in NYC, yours truly got the call to rep the site. Here’s my segment (Im the one in the suit) [1]

I spent most of the segment wondering where to put my hands. If you’ve ever seen the Everybody Loves Raymond episode where he goes on TV for the first time , you have an idea of how I felt.

It was a lot of fun, but I think I still prefer radio. Mainly because I can roll out of bed at 10:30am, throw on my Bruce Springsteen t – shirt, and hit the air at 11am. I do this every Saturday here [2], if your so inclined to hear me speak (I’m also on 9pm-12am tonight and every Wednesday).

But enough about me, lets link it up….

It’s Wednesday and B.C hasn’t anounced it’s starting quaterback – Boston Herald [3]

Sidebar: ESPN Classic has been showing some of the great games from this rivalry’s past. My, how life has changed. My own personal odds of this Saturday’s game being showed 10 years from now on anything other then a “Sports Follys” DVD: 370 to 1.

The rate of success may have changed, but not the intensity – ESPN [4]

Side bar: Remember last season’s game when Jimmy Clausen went to wish a BC player good luck after the game and the BC player (forgot who it was) tried to smack him in the face?….Those are the kind of things that make this rivalry great!

This will be a good week for ND to get back on track – AP  [5]

Kelly: Return unit needs to do more – Chicago Tribune [6]

Sidebar: Can I upgrade that request? Everyone who runs with the football has to do more.

This is very interesting, we discussed the slight regression of Dayne Crist on Saturday night/Sunday morning, here’s a little more on it – ESPN [7]

Sidebar: Kelly can spin it any way he wants, Crist was awful with a capitol A on Saturday.

Kelly says that top heavy schedule will pay off – chicagobreakingsports.com [8]

Sidebar: I agree. Despite 1-3, I think 7 wins is still in reach. However, 6 is a lot more likely. But that still means a bowl! For a team that’s played in one in the last three years, a bowl birth of any kind is fine for Kelly year #1

Kelly promised success again – Fort Wayne News Sentinel   [9]

Recuiting news: WR DaVaris Daniels commits! Take that, Miami   [10]

This Day is Irish History – 1945

The fighting Illini open the season against the Irish before a South Bend crowd of 41,000, and they saw one of the best games of the year between two evenly matched teams. Notre Dame managed to score the only touchdown, a 78-yard run by halfback Phil Colella to win 7-0. Hugh Devore took over the head coaching job of Frank Leahy, who was in the Navy during WWII.

Enjoy Wednesday. 3 more days until Boston College.
