NCSU has performed beyond expectations this season. But this Saturday in Raleigh they will face their biggest test yet. NCSU faces Va Tech at 3:30 on ABC. It has been a boastful couple of weeks for us State fans because we have of pent up bragging to do. Years and years of it, but I need to stay focused! Hopefully the football team has kept their wits about them while the fans have celebrated. Based on the way these two teams have played in the past at Carter-Finely this should be a tight contest between two good teams.
One of things that have made a big difference at NCSU this season is their depth at linemen, both offense and defense. So now when the starters on the line run low on energy they have substitutions to send in the game to provide a much needed rest. During the Ga Tech game State was able to send in substitutions on almost every other play. While on offense, ten players got playing time on the line. Having dept on the lines has made all the difference and the Pack’s record reflects that.
The game this Saturday could easily come down to the battle of the QBs. Wilson from State and Tyroid Taylor of Va Tech is sure not to disappoint. This football fan can wait to these two guys shoot it out. Wilson has put up slightly better numbers so far this season. He leads the league with an average of 299 total yards and averaging 289 yards through the air, while Taylor is the star of Va Tech offense. He is very good through the air and leads the Hokies in rushing.
Another bright spot for the Pack offense is the balanced attack from the HBs Dean Haynes and Mustafa Greene. Do you want to hear the REALLY great news?? Both of these guys are Freshman and so they both just took their first college snap only a few weeks ago, YIPPEE!!! Greene has shined all season, so keep your eyes peeled for this guy. Haynes had struggled in early games and but put forth a solid performance against Ga Tech.
What to look for from Va Tech on Saturday:
Tyroid Taylor is the Va Tech, offense expect a lot from the guy. He will be busy!
On defense for watch out for Bruce Taylor, he has 9.5 tackles for loss which is 2nd in the ACC.
What to look for from NCSU on Saturday:
Russell Wilson understands fully the importance of this game. He will shine brightly!
The Pack defense, need I say anymore. Defense is what we do and we do it well. They will prove they are contenders in the ACC.
Va Tech 24
This will be a battle of two of the top ACC QBs and these two teams always play close in Raleigh. GO PACK!! JUST WIN BABY!!!
