New Oregon Music Video!

The boys of “supwitchugirl” are back and with a much bigger budget. The band formulated of 3 University of Oregon students burst onto the scene last year when they made their video “I Smell Roses” prior to the Civil War game against Oregon State. They made the video with the simple intention of putting it on the student broadcasting network for the television program “DuckU.” The result was a music video with creative lyrics and video making that not only became immensely popular on campus amoung students and fans, but hit the radio all over the state of Oregon and even some national attention from Dan Patrick of ESPN in particular.
Now the band is back together and have just released a new song called “I Love My Ducks (Return of the Quack)” that is sure to once again spread across the area like wildfire. The video combines the same kind clever lyrics, but the video is much more professional, there is more involvement of the Oregon mascot Puddles, and they have incorporated the cheerleaders in a major way, so the guys know how to draw an audience. There are appearances of the football players and a part for former Ducks great Quarterback Joey Harrington. In the song they sing about Chip Kelly, Casey Mathews, Cliff Harris, Remene Alston, Jeff Maehl, Kenny Rowe, Spencer Paysinger and many more including Oregon Alum ESPN’s Neil Everett. Granted they are three very white college kids, but the lyrics are great in both videos and the second one in particular is a very well made video. I encourage everyone to also check out how the craze got started with “I Smell Roses” below.
This really is what is great about college sports. The passion for college football and basketball are unmatched in sports in America, and it is clear when watching videos like this. These guys are not alone, there are college kids all over the world that do things like this all the time. It is great that one of these groups has been able to recieve some recognition so that they may motivate others like them to continue working and inspire other schools to do the same. I have personally heard the gentlemen of “supwitchugirl” speak and they are truely amazed at the response to their videos, but the first thing they will tell you is to start like they did and amazing things can happen. So with some school spirit, creativity and more than a little humor you can go a long way by riding the passions involved with college sports.
