With 00:37 left on the clock, Flacco throws an 18 yard strike to T.J Houshmandzadeh for the game winning score. Ravens won, 17-14.
The Steelers missed two field goals which would have put this game out of Ravens reach. The Ravens were on the Pittsburgh eight yard line with four attempts to get in the end zone. They failed on all four attempts and turn the ball over on downs.
The Ravens defense stepped up and stopped Rashard Mendenhall on three straight rushing attempts. The Steelers had to punt from their own end zone which gave the Ravens great field position to win the game. The Ravens started their drive on Steelers 40 yard line with 00:55 left in the game. Flacco throws four straight completions to win the game.
The Ravens’ defense played well the entire game. They only gave up 79 rushing yards to one of the better running backs in the league, Rashard Mendenhall, and only 210 total yards. The offense moved the ball well with an injured Willis McGahee and a limited Ray Rice. McGahee suffered a stinger early in the third quarter and wasn’t able to return.
The Ravens still need to stop giving away turnovers. McGahee lost a fumble, which was the same play he was injured on, and Flacco threw another interception. He has six interceptions in four games. However, they are the Steelers and their one of the best in the league in created turnovers. Nonetheless, this is a great victory for the Ravens over their divisional rival.
The Ravens and Steelers are both 3-1. With the Bengals losing to the Browns, Ravens and Steelers are both sitting on top of the AFC North. Ravens host the 2-2 Denver Broncos next Sunday.
