There isn’t much that needs to be said about this game. The passing game finally had a big day, but the Bengals still lost 23-20. Palmer went 25/36 for 371 yards and two touchdowns. For the second consecutive week a wide receiver went off on the Cleveland secondary. Terrell Owens had 10 catches for 222 yards and a score. During the game, Owens also moved into 2nd on the all-time receiving yards list.
For the first time all season, the Browns finally held on to a fourth quarter lead to take the game 23-20. They almost lost another lead in this one as they led at one point 23-10.
Once again the Mike Alstott clone Peyton Hillis rumbled for over 100 yards. On this occassion, Hillis ran for 102 yards.
The Bengals defense couldn’t get the Browns off the field in the closing seconds of the game. With 4:11 left, Cleveland went ground and pound and ate the rest of the clock for the win.
The Bengals did suffer two key injuries to the secondary in this one. Safety Roy Williams injured his right knee and CB Johnathan Joseph injured his forearm.
The schedule is only going to get tougher for Cincinnati. At 2-2, it’s going to be tough for this team to repeat as AFC North Champs, especially the way the Ravens and Steelers are playing at this moment.
