In this week six matchup, the Boise State Broncos (4-0) will take on the Toledo Rockets (3-2) in Bronco Stadium as Boise State plays its final non-conference game. Last week against New Mexico State, Boise State trampled through the Aggies. They beat them 59-0 in a game where most of the starters were taken out by the third quarter. Toledo on the other hand, faced the Wyoming Cowboys, a team who is familiar with Boise State. Toledo played a tough game, but the end result did not show it as they lost 20-15.
Boise State should have no problem against the Rockets this week as they look to go 5-0. Quarterback Kellen Moore, looks to continue his chase towards the Heisman as he will have no problem picking apart Toledo’s defense. Doug Martin looks to have another huge game. His surprising play this season has helped the Broncos have one of the most balanced and dynamic offenses in football. Toledo’s defense will have its hands full this week as they try to stop one of the most high-powered offenses in college football. Boise State ranks in the top 20 in many of the major offensive statistical categories, and should have no problem putting points on the board. Look for the backups to get significant playing time this week because by half time, the game will be out of reach for the Rockets.
Boise State must win this game by a large margin. With the remaining schedule that faces the Broncos, they must continue to assert their high-powered offense over other teams as well as continue to dominate on the defensive side of the ball. With the recent fall in the polls, Boise State must continue to show the voters that while their schedule may be lacking in high quality teams the rest of the season, they deserve to be in the national title talks as much as anyone.
