After a disappointing loss it is nice to have a easier week to try to regroup your team. Coach Dan Enos and Central Michigan sadly does not have that advantage. After a terrible home lossto Ball State CMU goes on the road to Va Tech, who seems to finally be playing like most thought they would all year. It seems like CMU has this game at the wrong time of the season. After the James Madison loss Va Tech has responded nicely it’s latest win over then #23 ranked NC State.
To make matters worst starting left tackle Jake Olsen is now out for the season with his injury, forcing Rockey Weaver to have to stay at left tackle, in stead of playing his usually right tackle. Last week Ball State had 6 sacks and got pressure rushing just four on many plays. This problem would only get worse against Va Tech, one would think. QB Ryan Radcliff can help however, and he must do a much better job going through his reads quickly and then either take off or get ride of the ball.
The game will be on ESPNU at noon so it is important that CMU does not get blown out. It is important for this time to at least play well and bounce back a little after last week. Next week is homecoming at CMU, so you want something poistive to happen going in to that game. Hopefully no one gets hurt and CMU can keep it close.
The Va Tech running game will be a big concern for the Chippewa’s as Ball State hurt CMU a lot on the ground last week, ran for 306 yards, and Va Tech has one of the best running games in the country. CMU needs to put at least 8 in the box and hope they can slow down that running game. I see Va Tech winning this game, but hopefully CMU can come out and show some heart. That is what I am looking for, how do they respond.
Score: Va Tech 31 CMU 14
