Ethan Moreau scored at 1:56 of overtime to lift the Blue Jackets over the San Jose Sharks tonight. The Blue Jackets begin the season by splitting their first two games with the Sharks. They continue to demonstrate that they are a stronger team than last year. They are more focused, more skilled, and one more year mature.
Steve Mason continued to shine by stopping 33 of 35 shots including some timely saves to keep the Blue Jackets in the game.
Kristian Huselius had another strong game scoring a goal and adding an assist.
Rick Nash responded to the Sharks early power-play goal by scoring his first goal of the season to tie the game at one early in the first period.
Kris Russell seems to be feeling better after sitting out the first game of the season due to injury.
The checking line continued to shut down the Sharks top line and contributed offensively as well.
The Blue Jackets will have some time to practice this week and settle in back home. Their next game isn’t until Friday against the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Chicago Blackhawks.
