Boston Cream Pie Is Yummy: NCSU 44 Boston College 17

NCSU beat BC 44-17 on Saturday in Raleigh. BC was never really in this game and the Pack dominated it from start to finish. This was nice to see if you are a State fan. In the past dealing with a big let down during the season, like the loss to Va Tech, the team would just slide into the abyss, not to be heard from again until next year. But not this Saturday, the program seems to have a turned a corner. Granted they will face more tough times this season, but there is something different about this football program now. They seem to have the grit it takes to become a top tier NCAA football school. Lets not forget, just last year State lost to BC 52-20.

BC team seemed sluggist and slow most of the day. The heat in NC appeared to be a factor in the their performance. Their QB Shinskie could never find his groove, unlike State’s QB Wilson. He maintained his poise throughout the day. Again this Saturday, Wilson used 10 different receivers. Which totally seems to confuse the opponents. They are never sure where to apply defensive pressure. Also, during this game Wilson tied Philip Rivers record for single-game pass completions. One more note of signnificance offensively, Russell Wilson’s showing was so good, he taken out of the game early. It was great to see backup QB Glennon get some much needed snaps.

Almost unbelievably this season State has been able to convert on 3rd downs. Which the lack of these conversions has plagued the program for years. Another standout on offense has been the performance of Owen Spencer. He impressed again this week with 28 receptions for 426 yards. One more shout out is this week for the NCSU special teams unit. These guys just flat out excelled again. Just one of their accomplishments Saturday was a blocked punt, which was recovered for a TD. Nicely done gentlemen, welcome to the highlight reel!

Next up for State is a trip to Greenville, to take on ECU. This is always a exciting game. Can’t wait…GO PACK!!!
