Bad, bad, bad, bad news for the Notre Dame passing game. Here’s the South Bend Tribune piece….
This is a blow for the passing game, no doubt. It appeared that Rudolph was just hitting his stride too. Although it’s never good to loose a player like Rudolph, I think the impact will be noticed on the stat sheet more then the field. Theo Riddick had replaced Rudolph as the number 1 non- Floyd option anyway. Also, look for T.J Jones get more and more looks as the season goes on.
What I’m going to look out for in how this affects the running game. Even with pass catching tight ends, run blocking comes into play. With a run game that hasn’t been used often to begin with, it will be interesting to see if Rudolph’s injury affects the play selection and efficiency.
