Today, James Wisniewski of the New York Islanders was suspended by the NHL for 2 games, for what they deemed to be an obscene and inappropriate gesture directed at Sean Avery. Wisniewski will forfeit close to $80,000 in salary, which will definitely be tough for him to swallow. While it seems to be pretty obvious what James Wisniewski was emulating, here are the Top 10 James Wisniewski excuses.
10 – I didn’t do anything wrong, you’re all blowing this out of proportion.
9 – I was trying to motivate our team by telling them our owner Mr. Wang is here.
8 – Gary Bettman was at the game and he’s a big Phoenix fan; so I was just showing my support for the Coyotes and Jobing.com Arena.
7– I didn’t think these videos would land all over YouTube. Usually, to publish that content, you need the league’s expressed oral consent.
6 – Sean Avery started it. If you had let me finish, you would have seen I was trying to tell the ref that he spat on me.
5 – The game was getting very rough; I was just trying to de-fellate the situation.
4 – I play for the Islanders! Why are you surprised that I suck?
3 – Since when are players not allowed to talk strategy? That’s our signal that the other team is trying to get pucks in deep.
2 – I guess I should have known better, especially given the league’s mandate to cut down on blows to the head.
1 – If you think that was bad, I was actually planning on bending over and mimicking what the St. Louis Blues did to Pierre Gauthier in the Halak trade.
