Here we go! KU vs K-State, the Jayhawks and the Wildcats. Crimson and blue against purple and white. I have to believe that both teams have been waiting for this for quite sometime now. Not only is this a big rivalry game, each team is looking for some redemption after both teams got a royal beat down handed to them in each of their last games. Kansas is coming off a bye week in which they had to endure the long wait of another game after Baylor absolutely destroyed them in Waco a few weeks ago. The K-State Wildcats didn’t have as much time to wait, but maybe suffered more of an embarrassment, as they got whipped by the Nebraska Cornhuskersat home last Thursday. Each team will be looking to control big plays by their opponent as the Jayhawks gave up many numerous long plays to the Bears. The Wildcats also gave up their fair share of huge plays as well to Taylor Martinez and the Huskers. The Jayhawks, in my mind, have a slight edge going into tomorrow’s game since it will be in Lawrence, and they have played better at home this year than on the road. Webb and the Kansas offense will have to look to the passing game to win, as Nebraska showed that the K-State defensive backs are not that fast. As for the KU defense, they will have to contain the most physical running back in the Big XII, Daniel Thomas. Thomas was held in check last week, but the Kansas defense isn’t the same as Nebraska’s. I have to believe that Coffman and Klein will both get some snaps for the Wildcat offense. Both showed good signs of running the ball, but Klein was a little more productive. I don’t see the Wildcat passing game doing a whole bunch seeing that their receiving core is still fighting some injuries. They say time heals all wounds, so which team will be able to shake off the bad loss first, and get the win. One thing is for sure, the loser of this game will be one step closer to welcoming in basketball season. Rock Chalk!
