At this time last year Chris Johnson (Titan’s 24th pick out of the 1st round in 2008) had 468 rushing yards going into week six. This year Johnson is going into week six of the Monday night game against the up and down Jacksonville Jaguars with 485 yards rushing. He is off to just about the same start as one year ago.
When adding up the yards against opponents (Houston, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Miami, and San Diego) he faced last year that he will see again this year stats show he produced a little over 1,000 rushing yards. He didn’t face Philly, Washington, and Kansas City last year, but will meet with them by the end of this season. Let’s say he’ll average 100 yards per game in those three games. That’s another 300 yards to add onto the 1,000 ran just one year before. This means were looking at around 1,300 more yards out of Johnson by the end of the regular season. If you add that to his 485 rushing yards he has now that’s 1,800 yards. Is 2000 yards looking out of reach now?
Yes teams have changed players and coaches, but Chris Johnson is still the same guy he was last year. Given enough snaps from his buddy Vince Young and good blocking we could be looking at another historical 2,000 rushing yard year out of our man Chris Johnson. As long as Chris Johnson runs like he normally runs we could be watching history in the making.
