The 2 – 2 Seahawks fresh off a bye week travel to the windy city to face the 4 – 1 Chicago Bears. On paper this looks like it will be an interesting game. We will see how newly aquired Sehawk RB Marshawn Lynch will favor against Brian Urlacher and this tough Bears defense which has the third best rush defense. Averaging 78.6 yards a game. The last couple times these two teams have met the score has been extremely close with the seahawks winning in 2007 30 – 23, and the Bears winning in 2009 23 – 19. Both of these games were at Qwest Feild.
I’m curious to see how affective Bears QB Jay Cutler will be after sitting out last weeks 23 – 6 win over the Carolina Panthers due to a concussion. Cutler suffered the concussion in week 3 when the New York Giants sacked him a carrer high nine times in route to a 17 – 3 victory. If he does well against this seahawk defense which has given up over 300 yards a game passing It could be a long day for the seahawks. Whose last win on the against a non divisonal oppenent came all the way back in 2007 when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 28 – 24.
Since the seahawks traded Deion Branch to the patriots I’m curious how affective our recievers are going to be since we don’t really have any proven recievers. The only proven reciever is Brandon Stokely who we signed a couple weeks ago, and he’s more of a third down possesion reciever. His first start as a seahawk came two weeks ago in a 20 – 3 loss to St. Louis. Where he had 4 catches for 62 yards. Look for Deon Butler to get alot of playing time. He has a ton of potental however he has been awfully quiet this year only having 8 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.
I think the key to this game is if the Seahawks can pressure Cutler. If they can pressure him then they have a shot, but if they give him time he will rip this D apart. Stoping RB Matt Forte is also a key. The seahawks have been surprisingly good this year against the year only averaging 72.8 yards per game. It will also be interesting to see how the Seattle’s QB Matt Hasselbeck and the new running back tandem of Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett will fare in this game. If Russell Okung and company are able to protect Hasselbeck then he could give these seahawks a much needed road win. However It won’t be an easy task with big Bears defensive end Julius Peppers on the other side.
