The Mavericks moved to 2-3 in preseason play after a 101-96 win against the Detroit Pistons.
Steve Novak led Dallas with 22 points, as he went 6-for-10 behind the 3-point line. JJ Barea added 12 points and seven asists as he got the start since Jason Kidd sat out. The Mavs’ biggest offseason acquisition, Tyson Chandler, added four points and seven rebounds. Dirk Nowitzki and Caron Butler also did not play in the win.
The Mavs lost to the Cavaliers on Monday, 85-79. Nowitzki was the lone Mav to score in double figures, with 13 points.
Dallas will visit the Chicago Bulls on Friday. The game will be broadcast live on NBA TV and can be seen locally on KTXA. Dallas opens the regular season with a home game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday, Oct. 27.
