How much corn can a Longhorn shuck if a Longhorn could shuck corn? A whole hell of a lot.
UT went to Lincoln, Nebraska and grilled their corn Texas style. Hey Martinez, tell me how the bench tastes.
Ok enough jokes, for now.
No big history was made and no legends were born but key players stepped their game up, finally. Garrett Gilbert didn’t show us much of his arm but should’ve had two touchdowns if his receivers hadn’t dropped the ball. He showed us what he can do with his legs and a full playbook. 71yds on the ground (6.6yds per carry) and 2 touchdowns. Johnson led the team with 73yds rushing but Fozzy and Newton chipped in also.
I swore Nebraska was gonna shut the run game down but UT proved me wrong. That’s fine with me.
There were 11 “players of the game” and they’re all on defense. When your defense puts the starting quarterback for the 5th ranked team in the nation on the bench for poor performance and not injury, that’s an accomplishment.
D-line was great, the linebackers were great and even the secondary was fantastic. If the defense plays like this from now on, then its gonna be hard for anyone to beat the Longhorns.
Offensively, if Gilbert can continue to run effectively and start throwing down the field with his receivers catching the ball, with this defense, no one can beat UT.
