Fantasy Week 7 Pick ups

Posted By David Willow On Oct 20 2010 @ 3:07 pm In Fantasy | No Comments

We’re almost to mid-season and the pickens are getting a little bit slimmer. Hopefully, if your scraping the bottom of the pot looking for a good pick up it’s for a back up position because the farther we get into the season the less likely we are to find that hidden gem, especially in deeper leagues and save for those caused by injury of course.

Here are a few waiver wire candidates to consider.

Patrick Crayton – Crayton had a nice day against St. Louis with 7 receptions for 117 yards. With the injuries to both starting wide outs Naanee and Floyd, and with an injury slowing down Antonio Gates, Crayton is worth a look if your in need of a receiver for this week.

Ben Watson – Watson was the most targeted receiver on the Browns again. As long as Jake Delhomme isn’t starting Watson is a viable option at the tight end spot if you need a filler or if your getting snubbed by a draft pick.

Fred Davis – Chris Cooley is reported to have had a concussion during the Sunday night game. He says he’s alright, but with the new rules in the NFL Cooley could very well miss the next game opening up Davis for the starting role which he ran away with last season. I’d wait for reports confirming that Cooley is out and then grab Davis. Cooley has also had concussion problems throughout his career which could lead to Davis having to be used more later down the road.

Mike Williams – Williams saw a large increase in targets last week, and seems to be benefiting greatly from the trade of Deion Branch. He had 10 receptions for 123 yards. He’s probably somebody who is best to stash away for now, even with a good match up coming against Arizona. He is being given the shot at the number 1 receiver role and he has a high upside if he can deliver.

Danario Alexander – Alexander had a big game in first appearance in the NFL and Sam Bradford seems to be able to make just about anyone look good. With Mark Clayton out Alexander looks like he could be a good pick up. He has had injury issues and was also inserted into the lineup because of injuries to other players, so temper expectations as this has yet to play out. Also remember Alexander has had injury issues that have followed him since college.
