Huskers Turn Attention to No. 17 Cowboys

Nebraska will be looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season. A loss that started them No. 16 in the BCS Standings. Nebraska will be away from home looking for a seventh consecutive win in Stillwater. The Cornhuskers were destined to start near the top for the national championship. It feels now they would have to win out and hope for some help. That also includes the Big 12 Championship game against a formidable opponent which just may feature Oklahoma on the other side.

Dropped passes from Niles Paul, Rex Burkhead, and Brandon Kinnie led to the early exit by quarterback Taylor Martinez. But he is expected to start against the undefeated Cowboys. Look for this game to be a slugfest. Both offenses are capable of putting up big numbers in short time. Oklahoma St. is ranked third in passing offense and second in overall offense. This will be a good test against the Nebraska defense, which ranks first in the country in pass defense.

Brandon Weeden, junior quarterback, has almost a 2:1 touchdown-interception ratio. This efficiency, along with the talents of Justin Blackmon, sophomore receiver can be a deadly combination for any team. Weeden is a tall quarterback which really helps throw over the lineman and place it perfectly for a tall receiver. Let’s not overlook the running game of Oklahoma State.

Some of the things from Nebraska I like to see is eliminating the mistakes. This includes fumbles, interceptions, dropped passes, and penalties. It seemed that Bo Pelini is pretty confident with his team and quarterback from the press conference. I wouldn’t be worried just yet, but this is an inflection game. It will tell a lot about this team. I like Nebraska 21-20.
