So it is my one year anniversary here at Pro Sports Blogging. Before I get into my blog I want to say thank you to everyone that has taken the time to read a blog and a bigger thank you to those that leave a post and talk hockey! Hopefully I’ll still be around doing this for years to come!
Now that that is out of the way lets gets to work!
The Calgary Flames moved to 3-2 last night with a hard fought 1-0 OT win over the Nashville Predators. Both goaltenders were spectacular as Miikka Kiprusoff and Pekka Rinne traded save for save all night and a few were of the spectacular variety. The only shot to go in was that of Rene Bourque who just returning from a concussion batted a puck out of the air in the slot past Rinne who had no chance on it.
Cory Sarich finally got into the lineup with TJ Brodie being sent to the minors, and did he make a statement hitting everything that moved wearing a Preds uniform. The biggest hit coming on Ryan Suter in the first period. Suter was forced to leave the game because of it.
Steve Staios also had a much better game playing 19 minutes and looked to have shaken off the rust that clearly plagued him in his first appearance of the season. Ian White also had another strong game drawing a assist on the overtime winner.
As a Flames fan you couldn’t complain with the offense generated by the team as Calgary did generate scoring chances only to be turned aside by Rinne.
Interesting note on the Predators and a testament to the way they have built their franchise over the years. 13 players on their team were drafted by Nashville! That number is simply amazing in this day and age of free agency and shows how truly well run this organization has been over the years. I sure hope the fans of Nashville realize this and fill their building on a much more consistent basis.
Have a good one!
