Showdown in the 10451

So it’s come down to this – CC Sabathia vs. C.J. Wilson in a do-or-die game for the Yankees.

There’s a lot that’s gone wrong for the Bombers, and if they have any chance at winning this series, they have to fix it FAST. As in a few hours.

Clutch hitting (or really any hitting) – has been absent. Texas has┬ádecent starting pitching (and Cliff Lee is great) but the Rangers’ bullpen is weak. Remember Game 1? Apparently the Yankees didn’t last night.

Managing – Look, everyone knows Joe Girardi is a players’ manager and that’s fine, but he needs to stop worrying about their psyches and start worrying about winning. I’m sure A.J. Burnett would be happier with a World Series ring than being given the chance to stay in a game (and FAIL). The Yankees are down 3-1 and time is RUNNING OUT. It’s time to put away the binder, Joe, and pull out all the stops!

Fan support – Since when do Yankees fans leave games early?!!! John Smoltz couldn’t believe it last night when he saw empty seats at the stadium. This, unfortunately is a function of the new behemoth. In the old place, true fans could somewhat afford to come to games. Now only those who can absolutely afford it are there, and they think nothing of leaving early. That gets a huge BOO in my books! Not much anyone can do about it now, but it still stinks!
