TEMPLE/BOWLING GREEN THOUGHTS
I’ve been extremely busy over the last week, and I could never get around to covering last week’s game between Temple and Bowling Green. So I will provide you with some thoughts here.
The Owls are playing their worst football of the season thus far. They really had no business winning that Bowling Green game, BUT THEY FOUND A WAY TO WIN. This wouldn’t have happened in the past.
Just look at the 2008 season when Temple went 5-7. They lost four games by four points or less, and another tough one in overtime. Coincidentally, one of those excruicating losses came against Buffalo. Buffalo, had that Drew Willy hail mary to win it. If Temple would have won that Buffalo game, the Owls would have played in the 2008 MAC Championship Game.
Back to the Bowling Green game, the fourth quarter was dominated by the Falcons. They outscored the Owls 13-0. They scored a touchdown as time expired, but Temple escaped after Bowling Green was unable to convert on a two-point conversion with no time left.
You can’t overlook the numbers. The only statistic that Temple held an advantage in was rushing yards.
The time of possession and first down stats are staggering.

TEMPLE AT BUFFALO PREVIEW
I referenced it earlier, these two teams will always be linked by the 2008 confrontation in which the Bulls won on the hail-mary. It was the difference between either team getting to the MAC Championship Game.
Coming into this game, Temple goes into Buffalo as the prohibited favorite. The Owls are now 5-2, and just one win away from bowl eligibility.
The Buffalo defense has struggled against powerful, run-first teams. The Bulls don’t really have the size and strength in the front seven that’s neccessary to defend against power running squads. Buffalo is more comftorable against speed. Temple exploited this last season in their 37-13 win. You have to think that they’ll do it again.
In their first season in the post Turner Gil era, the Bulls are currently just 2-4. They have wins over Rhode Island and Bowling Green.
The Buffalo offense has struggled thus far. The Bulls have five players who have carried the ball 20+ times, just one has averaged 4+ yards a carry. The Bulls are 106th in the country in points scored.
PREDICTION- TU- 37-20
When you look at this game, the Owls seem to hold a significant advantage in most areas. It has trap written all over it, but the way this team has played over recent weeks, I think coach Golden will have his boys prepared and ready to play come Saturday.

I currently work for the Sports Network. It's the best job ever! I am a 2010 graduate of Temple University where I majored in broadcast journalism, I LOVE SPORTS! That's why I am here. I have a vast knowledge and want to share my athletic intelligence with the world. Some people like to spend their time shooting down aliens in Halo; I like to spend my time watching sports, current and old. It's my passion! I got asked one time how I can watch a game over again when I already know the outcome. 5 minutes later, he's watching Happy Gilmore reciting all of the lines from the movie. Hypocrite! As for my favorite sports teams, I've been a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan. My favorite athlete is Allen Iverson. He didn't like practice that much, but when it came to gametime, no one let it all out on the floor like Iverson. He is absolutely beloved in the city of Brotherly Love. For college athletics, obviously I pay close attention to Temple. (Yes, football too) Even before I stepped foot on Temple's campus for the 1st time in 2005, I was a fan. Oh the good old days of John Chaney! Some other tidbits about myself, I love cheesesteaks, I hydrate myself with Welch's Grape Juice and Snapple. I love the HBO show Entourage. Also, when is Kenny Powers making his much anticipated return in Eastbound and Down!
