ALCS Game 6 Preview

Looking ahead to tonight’s game and just some thoughts on last game.

I think the Yankees were expected to not get eliminated at home during game 5.  Their big bats came to life and C.C. Sabathia held the Rangers in check for most of the night.  Even with Mark Teixeira out of the lineup the Yankees still fought it out and won.  The Yanks didn’t seem to panic either during an elimination game.  I guess post season experience does make a difference.

Now shifting back to Arlington it seems as if the Yankees are on a bit of a roll.  Problem is they need to win two straight to move on, a feat that is definitely doable with this Yankee team.  Colby Lewis takes on Phil Hughes in Game 6 tonight which is a rematch of game 2.  Hughes needs a much better outing that he had in game 2 in this to give the Bronx Bombers a chance to win.  Lewis just needs to have a decent 6 inning outing where can keep the Rangers close or have a lead to get to their bullpen.  The Rangers have been the better team for most of this series from the 6th inning on.  The Rangers may be feeling the pressure to finally eliminate their playoff nemesis Tankees and may be just a bit too antsy tonight.  One thing to fall back on is that they will have Cliff Lee going in Game 7 if need be, but if your Texas you want to end this tonight and not have one game decide your season.

I see this finally being a low scoring ball game in this series.  I may get some argument but I think that Texas has been the better team this series and deserves to win the series.  Note that I didn’t say better overall team, just in this series.

There is also an apparent weather storm coming into Texas tonight so we will see if that has any effect on this game.  Buckle in to your seats cause with these two teams, and with bad weather that could cause some rain delays, you may be waiting a long time to decide a winner tonight.

Rangers Lead Series 3-2

Time: 8pm @ Rangers Ballpark

Probables: NYY Phil Hughes vs TEX Colby Lewis
