Wow, what a big win for the Cyclones. Many props today, for one the game plan could not go any better. The Clones scored the right amount of points and the run game was right on with 199 yards of the total 335 yards for the day. Alexander Robinson rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Iowa State drew first blood by scoring a touchdown in the first quarter and scored one every quarter. Texas didn’t get on the board until the second quarter, with a field goal. The defense still had a good show with snatching 3 interceptions and recovering 1 fumble. The also held Texas to 98 yards rushing. Overall this game was exactly what the doctor order for Iowa State, for one, they got their first road victory of the year and two, they defeated a ranked team. The Longhorns have dropped consecutive home losses for the first time since 1997.
Now Iowa State is back to .500 and look to go above .500 with a win next week against the Kansas Jayhawks at home. Next week’s game should be pretty good for Iowa State because Kansas is struggling this season with 2-5 record. The Jayhawks have been blow out by their past four opponents, so if the Cyclones play exactly the same next week, they will be above .500.
