Still steaming over Saturday? I know the feeling. However, here’s something I don’t know – how anyone thinks an Irish quarterback controversy has emerged. Look, I know Dayne Crist was awful on Saturday. No one can deny that. It was way worse then the Stanford game. But if you’ve watched this team with any sense of frequency, you know that Crist is still the best option right now.
Don’t let Tommy Rees’ one drive on Saturday fool you, he’s not ready yet. The Michigan game showed that. He looked like he had never seen a defense before. While Reesmay have grown since week two, he hasn’t outgrown Dayne Crist.
It’s become clear that this is who Crist is. He’s a boom or bust kind of player. When he’s good, you could see him playing on Sundays. But when he’s bad, he has a hard time recovering.
It’s something the Irish will have to deal with for the rest of Crist’s career. After all, it’s no surprise that Dayne Crist is inconsistent.
Didn’t we know this already?
