The Iowa State Cyclones have a good opportunity this weekend to start a winning streak if they pull off a victory against the Kansas Jayhawks. After last weeks game this seems like a very good possibility if they play just like they did against Texas. The Cyclones game plan should be they need Alexander Robinson to have another 100 plus yards and the offense needs a 20 point cushion to lock up the win. Oh and of course the defense needs to cause turnovers, if Iowa State follows that to a “T” they should get another “W”.
As for Kansas, the odds stack against them for this game, with several Kansas skill players either ailing or suspended, the Jayhawks would be wise to at least try to pound the football with RBs James Sims and Angus Quigley. TE Tim Biere, who could emerge as an outlet receiver in some instances with Kansas turning to third-string QB Quinn Mecham, a junior-college transfer who has played sparingly. Biere is coming off a big game against Texas A&M, when he established career bests for receptions (four) and yards receiving (67). He scored on a 16-yard strike and also logged a 32-yard catch.QB Jordan Webb figures to be available as a backup against Iowa State after suffering a shoulder injury against Texas A&M. His backup, QB Kale Pick, will be out after suffering a concussion in the A&M game. QB Quinn Mecham, who went into the A&M game as the third-stringer, was named the starter for the Iowa State game. With the unusual status of the Kansas roster I feel without a doubt Iowa State will get the victory and if they don’t well….it will be hard to be a Cyclone fan.
