Headaches for PSU against Michigan

Posted By Stephanie Geosits On Oct 28 2010 @ 3:19 pm In Penn State | 2 Comments

The Nittany Lions host familiar rival Michigan on Saturday in a matchup that will not be easy to win for them.

Quarterback Rob Bolden who was showing concussion like symptoms against Minnesota, passed mid-week tests which indicate he could see action this weekend, however, if Penn State doesn’t want to take that chance, Matt McGloin would get the nod to start and Kevin Newsome might see some snaps too.

On the other side, Michigan’s sophomore QB Denard Robinson should spark fear into the Nittany Lion defense. Ranked second in the country in total offense (345 yards per game) he has 2,415 yards on the season. Robinson has completed 97-of-143 passes (67.8 pct.) for 1,319 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. On the ground he has 137 carries for 1,096 yards and nine touchdowns and is currently the nation’s second-leading rusher (156.6 avg.).

Meanwhile, PSU’s Evan Royster is still trying to break the school’s rushing mark while Silas Redd is making a case for more playing time. The rushing game has been nothing to write home about all year and this weekend will probably not change that.

Michigan will be hungry for a win, coming off two straight Big Ten losses to Michigan State and Iowa, while Penn State is still in the process of trying to salvage its season after losses to Alabama, Iowa and Illinois.
