Nets Show New Heart to Begin New Season

Perhaps the Nets are ready to turn the page from the disaster that was last season. The new Nets, and they are new, only 4 people remain from last years team, showed to at least the fans they aren’t just a walk over. They outscored the Detroit Pistons by 10 in the final 1:30 to pull off a nice comeback win 101-98. The comeback was capped off by 3-point specialist Anthony Morrow, with 26 seconds left. After Morrow hit the three to give them the lead, their defense didn’t let them down, and made Detroit force up a bad shot, to seal the victory.

Brook Lopez and Devin Harris carried the team for the most part. Lopez had 25 points and 9 rebounds, while Harris had 22 points and 9 assists. Morrow helped, besides his game winning 3, with 13 points. Terrence Williams came off the bench to give them 30+ minutes along with 10 points 6 boards and 4 assists. T-Will is clearly the Nets best bench player, and they feed off his energy, along with his overall skills, if only he was a better scorer he could be special. The #3 pick in the draft, Derrick Favors, had a solid first start, coming off the bench with 8 points, but was great on the glass and had 10 rebounds, including 3 offensive rebounds. All of this helped the Nets start off the new season 1-0 compared to last season when they didn’t get their first win til the 19th game of the season.

A quick side note: It is almost sad to see T-Mac out there still trying to play. Back in the early-mid 2000′s he was leading the league in scoring. Last night, he played 14 minutes and didn’t score a point. It might be time to give the comeback up.
