Well it was as expected, a fast paced game with lots of energy. It took a shootout for the Blue Jackets to win their third straight game as they beat the visiting Edmonton Oilers. This improves the Blue Jackets record to 6 wins and 3 losses.
Steve Mason made an incredible stick save on Sam Gagner on the first shot of the shootout. Rick Nash then used his speed and rifled a shot past Devan Dubnyk. Gilbert Brule, the former Blue Jacket, rang one of the post which left Edmonton in a tough position. It came down to Nikita Filatov’s attempt to win it for the Blue Jackets and he did not disappoint with a beautiful backhand to win the game.
The Edmonton Oilers goalie, Dubnyk, was the only difference between a 3-2 shootout win and a blowout as he stopped 39 of 41 shots. He kept the game close and forced the overtime with some big stops late in the game.
The third line of Samuel Pahlsson-Kyle Wilson-Chris Clark scored both goals and created lots of energy throughout the game. They fore-check hard and forced the Edmonton defense to make mistakes.
Kris Russell was a last minutes decision to play. He was great at rushing the puck out of the Blue Jackets end and creating offensive changes from the back end.
Congratulations Taylor Hall for scoring your first of many NHL goals to come.
Go Jackets Go!
