Stanford – Washington Preview

Stanford gets the other team from “The Evergreen State” this week, the Washington Huskies. Head Coach Steve Sarkisian is in second year of his rebuilding project. The Huskies have had a roller-coaster season thus far. The highs: wins over USC and Oregon State. The downs: losses to Nebraska and Arizona by a combined sixty-five points. Which team will the Cardinal face this weekend? No one knows for sure.
What’s for sure is that Stanford is coming off a lackluster performance against Washington State. It appears as though Stanford was a little rusty coming of the bye week. The offense let opportunities for more points slip through their fingers and the defense is still a question.
Whether or not this Washington team can expose the holes in the Stanford defense is the looming question. I doubt that Washington will be able to stop the Stanford offense, as I expect Andrew Luck and the rest of the offensive unit to have a better performance.
UDUB is led by senior quarterback, Jake Locker. Locker decided to stay one more year in school, foregoing the opportunity to be the possible #1 pick of the 2010 NFL (that honor went to Sam Bradford), and has struggled at times in his second year running Sarkisian’s offense.
I have seen Washington only once this year, and they started out quickly versus Oregon State, only to give up their 21 point lead and win the game eventually in overtime.
I think this is going to be tight game, but in the end I think the difference is the coach, and I’d put my money on coach Harbaugh.
Prediction: Stanford 31 Washington 20
