Wizards Bench is a Huge Problem

Wall's ugly shoes, almost as horrendous as the Wizards' bench.

So the Wizards’ season has started, and they lost two games to division rivals they were expected to lose. Game one was a white washing, but that was expected against an Orlando team opening up a new arena on national TV. Game two against Atlanta Saturday night was a close, competitive battle despite an absolutely horrid performance from Washington’s bench. Granted Gilbert Arenas is still injured, but to get 10 points from the bench, all by one player (Yi Jianlian), is pathetic.

John Wall’s ugly NBA debut is quickly in the rear-view mirror, after Wall posted a 28 point, 9 assist, 5 rebound performance against the Hawks. Al Thornton showed his great scoring ability with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while Andray Blatche looked more like himself with 18 points and 7 boards. Even JaVale McGee had 7 points and 7 blocks, but Nick Young, Hilton Armstrong, Cartier Martin and Trevor Booker brought nothing to the court tonight. The combined numbers for those four players; 0 points on 0-for-5 shooting, 3 rebounds, 0 assists, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 3 turnovers and 6 fouls. Yuck. Those numbers are uglier than John Wall’s Reebok shoes.Once Arenas returns, for however long that might be, the Wiz will have a solid starting five with Kirk Hinrich and Yi coming off the pine, but with no bench a playoff chase seems like a pipe dream.
