Austen Arnaud got the offense rolling in this game, well in the second half throwing 168 yards. Iowa State struggled in the first half. They only completed five first downs and their only touchdown was a 62 yard punt returned by Jost Lenz.Alexander Robinson had another good game with another 100 plus yard rushing with a total of 117 yard in 17 carries. Robinson became the forth highest career rusher in school history with 3,088 yards. The Cyclones had a total of 400 yards on the day 278 yard in the second half alone and that is when they scored all their points. They had three touchdowns in the third quarter by Alexander Robinson, Jeff Woody, and Shontrelle Johnson all of which where rushing.
Kansas on the other hand suffer their 11th straight B12 game lost. The Jayhawks, down to third-stringer Quinn Mecham due to injures only had a total of 268 yards on the day. Mecham, who had thrown only one pass prior to Saturday, went 22 for 33 for 149 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Kansas didn’t get its lone touchdown until Mecham tossed a 5-yard pass to James Sims with 7 seconds left.
The Cyclones have really turn around this season, because if they just need to win one more game and they will be bowl eligible. Next up for Iowa State is 14th ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers.
