One thing we know for sure: The Rams are for real—when playing at home. The Rams sport a 4-1 record at the Eddie Jones Dome but are a winless 0-3 on the road. At the half way point of the season, the Rams sit with a 4-4 record. Not bad for a team that most predicted would win only four games total.
Up next for the Rams is the bye week—a very welcome sight for a team that needs to find its identity. Trouble is, the second half of the season will be much tougher, considering five of the last eight games are on the road.
Three Stars of the Game
Third Star: DE Chris Long
Long recorded a sack in his third straight game. On Carolina‘s first series in the fourth quarter, Long recovered a Steve Smith fumble which led to a 26 yard touchdown reception by Daniel Fells. The Rams have struggled putting points on the board in the second half, the turnover was a key moment in the game.
The touchdown was the first the Rams have scored in the fourth quarter since Week 2 against Oakland. Thanks, Chris!
Second Star: QB Sam Bradford
After playing the worst game of his short career last week against Tampa Bay, he rebounded brilliantly against Carolina. Bradford played the game manager role today and was extremely effective in doing so.
Season: 56.2 percent vs. Carolina: 78.1 percent
Season: 71.4 vs. Carolina: 112.4
Best part of Bradford’s performance? No mistakes.
The former Ohio State Buckeye was EVERYWHERE for the Rams. His stat line looks a little something like this:
Eight tackles, one sack, three tackles for a loss, one pass defended, one interception and one quarterback hit.
Laurinaitis intercepted Matt Moore’s first pass of the day, which happened to be the first Panther play of the game. In my opinion, the athletic interception set the defensive tone early for the Rams.
The first half of the season couldn’t have ended any better for the Rams. The young squad has nothing but positives to build on during the bye week.
